SOME THINGS OUR LAWYERS LOVE
These terms and conditions were created to clarify what it means to purchase a hat from Millinery Treasures. As the owner (a.k.a designer, seamstress, shipping department, et al.), I thought it important to explain the process.
We start making your hat within a few days of receiving your order. You’ll receive your purchase within in 4-6 weeks. It will probably come faster than that, but we can’t GUARANTEE a faster time. Selecting expedited shipping during checkout does not guarantee a faster creation time, only a faster shipping time.
At certain times of the year (when simply EVERYONE needs a hat) it can take me a few weeks longer. If you have a specific occasion for your custom hat that is less than 8 weeks away, email me prior to ordering so I may confirm that the hat will be ready in time for your event. I take the delivery schedule very seriously because I know what it’s like to need a hat for a special occasion.
We do understand that sometimes you have an unexpected event and need a hat yesterday. We have some good news. Sometimes there is an item available for immediate purchase because we used it for a photo shoot. We also offer an URGENT option, whereby I stop working on everything else, ignore my family and go all-in on your item. We’ll need to chat before I can commit, so email me at email@example.com about your event and the hat that you are considering.
While many people hate to use the telephone, I still find it a delightful way to answer tons of questions. Consider emailing me with questions and then we can schedule a time to (gasp!) actually talk. The better I understand your needs, the smoother the process goes. The product(s) you receive may vary slightly from the product picture on the site due to the nature of your product(s) being 100% couture made. Fabric can vary slightly from each dye lot and computers screens pick up colors differently. Also, please be careful with the products. The materials can be damaged if exposed to extreme heat or cold. It goes without saying not to leave things out in the sun or in the rain. Let your hat air out once you wear it and before you store it. This will preserve your product for years to come.
My hat studio is in a charmingly historic town of Hudson, located in the Hudson Valley of New York State. While the location is bucolic, it also means that I charge sales tax for orders shipped to a New York State address. The website processes credit card payments through STRIPE. This allows me to keep the overhead costs at a reasonable level.
Shipping costs are calculated automatically during checkout. We do our best to keep shipping costs to a reasonable rate. Our company ships through the following carriers: UPS, USPS, FEDEX, or DHL. We happily support and love our international customers but want to mention that Millinery Treasures is not responsible for duty or brokerage fees related to international shipping. These charges come from your country during importation of your package.
Each hat is made using exceptional materials and construction techniques. If a hat is damaged in shipping, of course, it may be returned for a replacement or store credit. Contact me immediately upon receipt of the damaged item and email a picture of the shipping box and the damaged hat. You’ll want to note that our policy holds for 30 days. If more time has gone by since your purchase, unfortunately, we can’t offer you a refund or an exchange. Please open your packages when they arrive. Only regular priced items may be refunded. Custom pieces and sale items cannot be refunded. We offer gift cards as a wonderful way to allow someone to select exactly what they want. Because they are so wonderful, we can’t offer refunds on gift cards.
If you seriously want to return an item (or need a replacement item because the mail carrier sat on it), send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll require a receipt or proof of purchase and you’ll need to pay for the shipping cost to return the item. If you are shipping an item over $50, use a trackable shipping service and purchase shipping insurance. This usually ensures that the shipping company doesn’t lose the package being returned. Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund. All refunds will have the cost of shipping deducted from the amount processed. Once you are approved, your refund will be processed and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within 7-10 days. If you haven’t received a refund within this timeframe, first check your bank account. Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is “officially” posted. So before you contact us about the refund you haven’t received, contact your bank (Yes once again!) Banks love to add processing time before a refund is posted. They make money on this. If you’ve done ALL of this and you STILL have not received your refund yet, please contact us at email@example.com.
We may collect personal identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Users visit our site, register on the site, place an order, fill out a form, respond to a survey, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our Site. Users may be asked for, as appropriate, name, email address, mailing address, phone number. Users may, however, visit our Site anonymously. We will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information. Users can always refuse to supply personally identification information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain Site related activities. We want to protect the privacy of the very young. For that reason, our website is structured to attract adults who can afford to purchase our products. If you are a parent of a child younger than 13 we strongly encourage you to monitor your child’s activity and figure out how they got ahold of your credit card.
Millinery Treasures may collect and use Users personal information for the following purposes:
- To run and operate our Site. Basically, we may need your information to display content on the Site correctly.
- To improve customer service. The information you provide helps us respond to your requests and needs.
- To personalize the user experience. We want to understand how our Users as a group use our Site.
- To improve our Site. Feedback is really important to improve our products and services.
- To process payments. It should come as no surprise that we use the information that users provide when placing an order. Rest assured that we do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to provide the service. The US Post Office likes when we include a shipping name and address on a package.
- To run a promotion, contest, survey or other Site feature. You win something in exchange…enough said.
- To send periodic emails. Guess what? We may use the email address to send updates pertaining to the order. You would be rather miffed if we didn’t. We may also use the information to respond to inquiries, questions, and/or other requests. Again, you would be miffed if we just ignored you.
- To do other activities not yet created. This is a catch-all for things don’t yet exist. After all, who knew that someday phones would be mini computers.
We don’t want to annoy you so we adopt appropriate data collection, storage, and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on our Site. However, we are a small business and do not have the resources of NCIS.
We do not sell, trade, or rent Users personal identification information to others. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and users with our business partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers for the purposes outlined above. We may use third-party service providers to help us operate our business and the Site or administer activities on our behalf, such as sending out newsletters or surveys. We may share your information with these third parties for those limited purposes provided that you have given us your permission. REMEMBER THERE HAS TO BE AN UNSUBSCRIBE BUTTON ON EVERY EMAIL. Just click on it and the dreaded activity will cease.
If User decides to opt-in to our mailing list, they will receive emails that may include company news, updates, related product or service information, etc. We may use third-party service providers to help us operate our business and the Site or administer activities on our behalf, such as sending out newsletters or surveys. We may share your information with these third parties for those limited purposes provided that you have given us your permission.
You CAN disable cookies on this site and on others. The best way to do this is to disable cookies in your browser. If you can figure out how to do this in a relatively short period of time, we might want to hire you.
